ABOUT HUMAN GLIMMER

A place for questions that don’t always have easy answers.

Human Glimmer grew out of a simple idea: understanding ourselves and the world around us isn't something we ever really finish doing. We change. What we know changes. What we believe changes. Sometimes life changes first.

This is a place to explore all of it. The way we think. The things we believe. The people we love. The fears that get in our way. The questions we can't stop thinking about. And sometimes, the much bigger questions about consciousness, meaning, spirituality, and what any of this is actually about.

I'm not here to tell you what to believe or hand you an answer and call it truth. I'm much more interested in asking better questions, looking at things from different angles, and figuring out what we can learn about ourselves along the way.

There's room here to wonder.

You don't need to be going through something terrible to be here. You don't need to be trying to fix yourself, become a better version of yourself, or have some huge breakthrough.

You might be trying to understand why you react the way you do. You might be thinking about a relationship differently. You might be questioning something you've always believed. Or you might just be curious about consciousness, spirituality, death, human behavior, or one of the million other weird things that come with being alive.

Some questions lead inward. Some lead outward. Usually, they end up doing a little of both.

A little about me.

I'm Amber. I've worked in emergency communications since 2015, so I've spent a lot of years talking to people when they're at their most vulnerable. It's taught me how to meet people where they are, even when I can't make what's happening better, and help them find their footing from there.

But my interest in people started long before that. I've always been interested in why we think the way we do, why we make the choices we make, and what can happen when we start looking at ourselves a little more closely.

I lost my dad when I was young and my brother as an adult. I've experienced those losses very differently. Losing my dad as a kid changed my definition of life. Losing my brother as an adult changed my perspective of it.

After my brother died, I started looking for answers. What happens when we die? Are the people we lose really gone? Is there more to life than what we can see?

Those questions took me places I never expected. The more I explored, the more curious I became, and eventually I wasn't only thinking about death anymore. I was questioning a whole lot of things I'd spent most of my life assuming I understood.

Some of those questions have led me toward psychology and human behavior. Others have taken me into spirituality, consciousness, belief, science, culture, and ideas about the world I never expected to spend this much time thinking about.I don't have all the answers. I don't think anyone does.

What I do have is a deep curiosity about what it means to be human, a tendency to question things, and a belief that understanding something a little better can change the way we experience it.

Human Glimmer is where all of that gets to live together.

What you'll find here

You'll find writing about our inner worlds, our relationships, the things we believe, the experience of being alive, and some of the bigger mysteries we haven't figured out yet.

Sometimes we'll look inward. Sometimes we'll look at the world around us. Sometimes we'll wander into a question without knowing where it's going to lead.

You don't have to agree with me. You don't have to believe what I believe. The point isn't for us to reach all the same conclusions.

Sometimes finding a different way to look at the question is enough.

Sometimes a glimmer is all you need.
